We have decided to make “Yamada-kun to Lv999 Koisuru” into a movie.
I would like to thank the production team involved and the fans who supported us.
I think it’s a work that follows the original story, but allows you to enjoy it in a way that is unique to movies.
I’m really looking forward to it too!
I would be happy if Yamada-kun’s fans look forward to it too!

Mr. Sakuma, who perfectly embodied Yamada with his elegant sex appeal and delicate expressions, and Mr. Yamashita, who led the work with his deep love for the role and natural comedienne thanks to the cast heart and soul into their roles, and the team who generously contributed their ideas to the work, we were able to create a film worth watching.
Thank you, Mashiro-sensei, for turning this great original work into a movie.
…By the way, as a director, I am very confident about the special phrase, “All Japan will fall in love with Yamada!”! Be sure to watch Yamada and Akane’s love level 999 in theaters.
[Nóta tráchta ó Ryuto Sakuma]
My name is Ryuto Sakuma and I play the role of Akito Yamada. I have loved this work since it began serialization. This work was turned into an anime, and when it finished airing and I was feeling sad, I was approached to make it into a live-action film. I never thought such a story would come to me, and still I can’t really feel it. Although I am inexperienced, the role of Yamada, whom I love, was as far as I can go. I think it’s a work that will be enjoyed by fans of the original as well as those seeing it for the first time, and it will have three-dimensional fun on top of it. As a fan myself, I’m looking forward to the live-action version of this work! Please come to the theatre!
[Nóta tráchta ó Mizuki Yamashita]
In addition to the excitement of diving into the world of ”Yamada-kun,” I also felt the pressure of making a live-action version of the popular manga, but I was very happy to talk to Mashiro, the author of the original work . , and I hope Yamada-kun fans will really enjoy it.
This was my first attempt at a romantic comedy, but during the school festival, I thought it was a romantic comedy! (laughter)
The interactions between the guild members were also interesting, and the ad-libs sometimes made me laugh, making it a fun shoot filled with smiles every day.
I think the charm of this work is the whole frustrating but cute feeling between Yamada and Akane, the characters and connections that form through the game, and the warm story that goes beyond the romance. It’s content that all kinds of people can enjoy, including fans of the original and gamers,
[Nóta tráchta ón léiritheoir Chika Takagi]
When I was over 30 and it was getting hard to get excited about school romance comics, I read the first volume of “Yamada-kun to Lv999 Koisuru” and for the first time in a long time, I was on excitement, and I was about to fall in love for the first time, I think this is a rare work that allows people in their 20s and 30s, who have already experienced various love affairs, to be excited along with the same feeling.
At the same time, I believe that this work is full of sensitive and diverse “kindness”. I discussed several times how I could preserve that nobility with the script writer, Kawahara-san, and with the help of Mashiro-sensei, we created a situation where he really liked the original work, in which he faced on his role with honesty, and in which he embodied it finely Along with the two main actors (I kept thinking “Yamada and Akane are here!” during the filming, which was a thrilling experience for me as a fan of the work original), director Yasukawa created a film that was sometimes comical and sometimes emotional. In addition, they created a film that was extremely cute (be it the acting of the actors, facial expressions, or background art) and was a delight to the eye from start to finish.
I think this is a work that will make you cry and laugh along with Akane, and leave the theater happy at the end.
Please stay tuned!

Interviewer: Welcome to Time.news! Today, we have a special guest, Yuka Yasukawa, the director of the highly anticipated movie “Yamada-kun to Lv999 no Koisuru,” set to be released on March 28, 2025. Thank you for joining us, Yuka!
Yuka Yasukawa: Thank you for having me! It’s a pleasure to be here.
Interviewer: The excitement is palpable among fans of the original manga. Can you tell us what inspired you to adapt this story into a live-action film?
Yuka Yasukawa: Absolutely! I think the story is incredibly relatable, especially for young adults navigating love and relationships. The original work by Mashiro beautifully blends romance with humor and gaming, which is a unique combination. We wanted to bring that essence to the screen while also giving it a unique cinematic twist.
Interviewer: Speaking of the original work, how closely do you believe your film will follow Mashiro’s manga?
Yuka Yasukawa: We’ve made efforts to honor the original story, but films allow for a different kind of storytelling compared to manga. We’re excited to present the characters and their development in a way that resonates on a larger screen while retaining the core themes of love, friendship, and personal growth.
Interviewer: Ryuto Sakuma and Mizuki Yamashita are starring as Yamada and Akane, respectively. What do you believe they bring to their roles that will resonate with the audience?
Yuka Yasukawa: Ryuto perfectly embodies Yamada with his charisma and emotional depth, while Mizuki brings a lively spirit to Akane that captures her complexities. I feel they both have a deep love for their characters, and their chemistry really elevates the film. As a director, it’s fulfilling to see actors commit so wholeheartedly to their roles.
Interviewer: It seems like the film will have some emotional moments, especially given the teaser visuals we’ve seen. What can you tell us about the balance of humor and drama in the movie?
Yuka Yasukawa: That balance is crucial! The original manga excels at mixing poignant moments with light-hearted comedic scenes. We aimed to retain that spirit. There are times when the characters deal with tough emotions, like heartbreak, but then those moments are countered with humor that brings warmth and laughter, making the viewing experience well-rounded.
Interviewer: There’s a line in the teaser where Yamada says, “I’m not interested in love.” What does that signify in terms of his character development throughout the story?
Yuka Yasukawa: That line is significant as it highlights Yamada’s initial reluctance towards emotional connections, which makes his journey more compelling. Throughout the film, Yamada learns to open up and confront his feelings—which is a powerful and relatable arc for anyone who has struggled with vulnerability in love.
Interviewer: It sounds like there’s a lot for viewers to look forward to. Is there anything you’d like to say to fans who are eagerly awaiting the release?
Yuka Yasukawa: I want to express my gratitude to the fans for their support. This project has been a labor of love, and I truly hope everyone—whether they are returning fans of the manga or experiencing Yamada and Akane’s story for the first time—will enjoy the journey we’ve created. I believe it will capture hearts and create new fans along the way!
