With the approval of 69 of the 76 articles of the Labor Reform project, the House of Representatives advances in the discussion of one of the most important social initiatives of the Petro government.

This Wednesday’s session approved key articles, such as article 49, which extends paternity leave, and article 52which establishes labor agreements for victims of the armed conflict.

The Minister of Labor, Gloria Inés Ramírez, celebrated the progress of the Reform, highlighting that the main objective It is “that Colombia moves towards national and international standards, but above all that it has a rights-based approach.” Ramírez highlighted that this is a key step to comply with the government’s commitments regarding labor rights.

During the session, article 22, which regulates the apprenticeship contract, and article 23, which establishes the monetization of the apprenticeship fee, were approved by the representatives. These provisions will benefit thousands of apprentices from the National Apprenticeship Service (Sena), some of whom were present during the discussion in the Elliptical Hall of Congress.

Another important article approved was article 17, which ensures 100% remuneration on mandatory rest days.. This measure will be applied progressively, starting with 80% in 2025, rising to 90% in 2026 and reaching 100% in 2027.
