The Weightlifting Federation confirmed today, Thursday, that the national team is continuing its preparations for the World Championships in Bahrain.

The president of the federation, Muhammad Kadhim Mazal, told the (INA): “Our weightlifters are continuing their training in Erbil, in preparation for participating in the World Championships hosted by Bahrain during the period from 4 to 15 next December.”
Mazal added, “Three weightlifters will represent Iraq in the world championships, and they are the Olympic weightlifters, Ali Ammar Yusser, with a weight of over 102 kg, Qasim Hassan, with a weight of 96 kg, and Salwan Jassim Abboud, with a heavy weight of over 109 kg.”
He pointed out, “The weightlifter Ali Ammar will represent Iraq in the Asian Junior Championships in Qatar, after completing his mission in the World Championships with two young weightlifters, who will be chosen in light of the tests that will be held during their next camp,” pointing out at the same time, that “ The youth and junior teams will soon join an internal camp in preparation for participation in the Asian Championship, which Qatar is hosting for the period from 19 to 25 of the same month.”
