The Ministry of Commerce has allowed the import of 4.5 million pieces of eggs for a limited period of time to stabilize the egg market. This information was informed in a notification of the Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday (October 8).
It is said that the Ministry of Commerce has allowed 7 companies to import 45 million pieces of eggs to control the instability of the market.
According to the order, according to the information of the Department of Livestock, there is a daily demand of about five crore eggs in the country. At present, in view of the egg market situation and keeping the market price stable, the import of eggs has been allowed for a limited period of time in view of the application of the below mentioned institutions. This import permit will be valid till 31 December 2024.
The importing companies, M/s MIM Enterprises of Dakshin Jatrabari, Dhaka, have been allowed to import 1 crore eggs, M/s Taosin Traders of Jessore Chowrasta Mor, 1 crore eggs, M/s Sumon Traders of Lobsha area of Satkhira, 20 lakh eggs, Alif Traders of Bhagi area of Rangpur, 30 lakh eggs.
Apart from this, Himalaya of Motijheel commercial area of the capital has been allowed to import 1 crore eggs, M/s Prime Care Bangladesh of Shantinagar 50 lakh eggs and M/s Zaman Traders of Tejkunipara 50 lakh eggs.
The conditions to be followed by the establishments for importation are-
1. According to the guidelines of The World Organization for Animal Health, a certificate or declaration of zoning or compartmentalization must be submitted by the component authority of the exporting country in favor of bird flu free zoning or compartmentalization.
2. Each shipment of imported eggs shall be free from avian influenza or bird flu virus and harmful bacteria issued by the competent authority designated or empowered by the Government of the exporting country.
3. Payment of customs duties and other regulations prescribed by the government should be followed.
4. Importation of eggs should be notified to the relevant quarantine officer at least 15 days prior to shipment.
5. A progress report must be submitted to the Ministry of Commerce every seven days after obtaining the import permit.
6. The import permit will be valid till December 31.
