New Delhi: Big news is coming out about the Indian team’s experienced wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant. According to a report in Times of India, Rishabh Pant will not captain Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025. A source told TOI, ‘Yes, Delhi Capitals may look for a new captain. India all-rounder Akshar Patel can take over the post as the new IPL captain. Or the franchise could target someone who is captain material in the IPL auction (likely overseas in mid-November). However, Pant will be the franchise’s top retention. Rishabh Pant is being removed from the role of captaincy because the leadership group of the franchise feels that he can play without pressure without captaincy.

The last time Delhi qualified for the playoffs was in 2021.

DC last reached the playoffs in IPL 2021. Delhi has not been able to qualify for the playoffs for the last 3 years. Whereas Delhi has played in the IPL Final 2020 only once in 17 years, in which they were defeated by Mumbai Indians. Capitals played their only IPL final under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer.

27-year-old wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant made his IPL debut in 2016 while playing for Delhi Capitals. Since then, he has scored 3284 runs at a strike rate of 148 in 111 matches played so far. Let us tell you that till now Pant has represented only Delhi in IPL.
