‘Escape’ was officially screened at leading overseas film festivals, including the 57th Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival in Spain, the 9th London East Asian Film Festival, and the 10th Warsaw Korean Film Festival.

‘Escape’ is a movie depicting the life-threatening chase between North Korean soldier Gyu-nam (played by Lee Je-hoon), who has begun his escape for tomorrow, and Hyeon-sang (played by Koo Kyo-hwan), a National Security Agency officer who chases after Gyu-nam to protect today.

It is expected to leave a strong impression on overseas audiences with its empathetic message and exciting action.

According to distributor PlusM Entertainment on the 8th, ‘Escape’ entered the Òrbita competition section of the 57th Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival held from October 3 to 13 this year.

The Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival is a film festival where you can first learn about trends in world genre films. It is renowned as one of the world’s top three genre film festivals, along with the Brussels Film Festival and the Fantasporto Film Festival.

The Òrbita section, where ‘Escape’ was invited, is a competitive section where fantastic genre films such as thriller, action, adventure, and black comedy compete.

Ángel Sala, Artistic Director of the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival, said about the reason for inviting ‘Escape’, “It is an unusual action film, and scenes full of tension are depicted as fierce games.”

In addition, ‘Escape’ was also named in the opening gala category of the 9th London East Asian Film Festival (LEAFF2024), which will be held from the 23rd to November 3rd.

The London East Asian Film Festival, which started in 2017, is a film festival that introduces East Asian films to the UK and Europe, screening works from Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

The opening gala section in which ‘Escape’ was invited was the opening section of the London East Asian Film Festival, and among the Korean films that were invited, ‘The Secret Murder’, ‘Namhansanseong’, and ‘Secret Agent’ were invited.

In particular, director Lee Jong-pil, who directed ‘Escape’, is scheduled to attend the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival and the London East Asian Film Festival in person.

At the Warsaw Korean Film Festival held in Poland from October 4 to October 11, ‘Escape’ will open the festival as the opening film.

The Warsaw Korean Film Festival, hosted by the Korean Cultural Center of the Embassy in Poland and the Korean Film Council, has screened representative Korean films of the year, including ‘Decision to Break Up’, ‘Cobweb’, and ‘Parasite’ as opening films.

In addition, ‘Escape’ will continue to meet audiences around the world by being officially invited to the Auckland Korean Film Festival, Hong Kong Asian Film Festival, and Frankfurt Korean Film Festival held in October.
