Bulgarians with many international contacts attack me.
With these words, the swimmer Tsanko Tsankov explained the problems with the ratification of his record for swimming across the Danube.
Tsankov made a first swim of 108 kilometers in the river on September 6, which was not recognized. This forced him to swim again on September 19, and then he covered 120 kilometers in the river. This achievement has been recognized, claims Tsankov.
“During my second swim, the Danube River was two meters deeper and with a stronger current, and it was at the limit of swimming possibilities,” Tsankov told Nova TV.
“We had a problem with the ratification of my first swim of 108 kilometers in the Danube. The Open Water Swimming Federation had received a complaint and asked us to submit all the necessary data and documents. According to them, I declared a successful swim before it was ratified.
The first swim was with the help of local people, not specialists. And the files we sent did not cover the entire distance.
My second attempt at 120 kilometers was done according to all international standards. My achievement was officially ratified and I have confirmation that all the documents are in order,” said the swimmer.
“At the root of the attack against me are Bulgarians. There are factors in Bulgaria who have international contacts and do not want Bulgaria to have an open water swimmer at such a level.
This is the first time I am facing this thing and I did not expect it,” Tsankov also stated.
A few days ago, he received his certificate for the Cook Strait crossing, which he completed more than half a year ago.
