Although it is a neighboring area, ‘Kang Haeyoung’ attracts people with its different charms. In particular, fall is the time when you can truly feel Kang Hae-young’s true self.
From Gangjin, full of traces of fertility, to Haenam, the land of abundance, to Yeongam, with the legend of a miraculous rock,
Let’s go to ‘Kang Haeyoung’ to enjoy the taste and style of the South Island!

A meat party held in the market alley every weekend? The barracks market alley in Byeongyeong-myeon, Gangjin-gun. A quiet country alley is transformed into a party venue every weekend. The so-called ‘briquette bulgogi’ party. The cooking chefs are members of the 9th Dan Housewives and Byeongyeong-myeon Women’s Club. It is said that fresh locally produced pork is marinated in seasoning and grilled over charcoal fire and served to local customers at a low price.
Byeongyeong-myeon is where Jeolla Byeongyeongseong, the commander-in-chief of the army during the Joseon Dynasty, was located. The food served to the newly appointed chief officer, Byeongma Jeoldosa, was ‘briquette bulgogi’. From then on, ‘briquette bulgogi’ became the barracks’ representative delicacy.
Now, the women’s club members want to introduce the taste of Byeongyeong to more people. What is the sincerity they put into their ‘briquette bulgogi’ grilled on briquettes?
What is ‘octopus’ that you must eat in Yeongam? Dokcheon-ri, Haksan-myeon, Yeongam-gun, with not a single sea in sight. By the way, what are lined up here are none other than ‘octopus’ stores? People come here to taste the real ‘octopus’. Why is the ‘Octopus’ store thriving in this alley without the sea?
In calf poison (犢), river stream (川). Dokcheon-ri is said to have been a village where a cattle market was held. In fact, this place was a sea before the seawall was built at the mouth of the Yeongsan River! It is said to be a place with a good reputation as an octopus production area due to its good tidal flats. At that time, there were more than 20 octopus stores in the alley.
Makrye Lee has been making and selling octopus dishes at the same place for 25 years. Although the reputation of the past has disappeared, we are making octopus dishes with the hope that many people will appreciate the taste of octopus that has come down from the past.
