* Wasn’t Selvan’s film in Ponni a huge hit recently? When this same Ponni’s Selvana tried to get the Mani Ratnam 10 years ago, it was Vijay who won it. But, due to some unavoidable reasons, Ponni’s Selvan was abandoned at that time. Later, ‘Thuppaki’ was shot on the call sheet given by Vijay for Ponni’s Selvan.
*Vijay – director AR Murugadoss’ successful combo started from the gun. Gun was released on Diwali 2012. Earlier on Diwali i.e. in 2011 AR Murugadoss-Suriya’s ‘Seventh Knowledge’ and Vijay’s ‘Velayutham’ had released on the same day. The Vijay – Murugadoss alliance is like one that started in conflict and ended in love!
*AR Murugadoss was originally going to direct this gun movie in Hindi with Akshay Kumar. But because of the opportunity to direct Vijay, ‘Thuppaki’ was first made in Tamil with Akshay Kumar’s permission. Later it was released as ‘Holiday’ in Hindi starring Akshay Kumar.
