Jakarta – 127 people were killed in a stampede during a soccer match in East Java, Indonesia. 180 people were injured. The incident happened after the match between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya at the football stadium in Malang.

Persebaya won the match 3-2. After that, the fans of the losing team rushed to the ground. Police fired tear gas to disperse the crowd. Meanwhile, people were in a stampede.

Following the incident, the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) announced that matches in the Indonesian top league BRI Liga-1 have been suspended for a week and an investigation has been launched.
