NEW DELHI: The government has declared 144 in the premises of Delhi University to prevent the screening of the BBC documentary India: The Modi Question, which alleges Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s role in the Gujarat riots. The authorities declared 144 in the area while the NSUI unit was going to hold a documentary screening near the university arts block.

The police arrested and removed 24 students on the charge of illegal gathering. The area became tense as the students protested against the arrest. Clashes broke out between the police and the students at some places.

The authorities had denied permission to the program citing that the documentary screening would create a law and order problem.
