The nearly three-hour sequence was organized by TF1 and France 2.
On average, 15.6 million viewers were present on Wednesday evening in front of their television set for the debate between Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen, according to Médiamétrie. Over the course of the presidential elections, their number is eroding. In 2007, they were 20 million, then 17 million five years later and 16 million in 2017, all channels included.
The return match was organized by TF1 and France Télévisions, with Gilles Bouleau and Léa Salamé as referees and masters of speaking time. The “one” is the one that does best out of the game, with 7.41 million viewers (32% audience share). The public service reached 6.64 million (29% audience share).

The news channels also broadcast the two and a half hours of confrontation. The audience for these channels will not be known until later in the morning.
New for this edition, four Twitch channels have been authorized to broadcast and comment on the debate live. HugoDécrypte, Samuel Etienne, Jean Massiet and Sardoche each paid 1500 euros to the organizers to acquire the broadcasting rights. Twitch’s audience calculation is different from Médiamétrie, but the cumulative number of viewers reaches more than 1.5 million views.
