The second Test between New Zealand and England has started in Wellington today from Friday. 15 wickets fell on the first day.
Batting first, England were all out for 280 in 54.5 overs. in reply, New Zealand ended the first day with 86 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 26 overs. They are 194 runs behind England. Tom Blundell is unbeaten on 7 with Will O’Rourke. Both of them will come out to bat on the second day on Saturday morning.
England’s Brydon Curse took 2 wickets with 28 runs including 1 maiden in 7 overs. Chris Woakes, Gus Atkinson and Ben Stokes took 1 wicket each.
Harry Brook and Ollie Pope led the team from there.They added 174 runs for the fifth wicket. When the team scored 217 runs, Pope returned with 66 runs with 7 fours and 1 six.
New batsman Ben Stokes, however, could not last more than 15 balls. He was out for personal 2 runs in team 222. Before that, brook scored his eighth career century in 91 balls with 9 fours and 5 sixes. Which is his seventh century outside the country.
Brook returned when England were 259. Before that, he played a valuable innings of 123 runs off 115 balls with 11 fours and 5 sixes.
However,England lost the remaining 3 wickets within 21 runs. Gus Atkinson 4, Chris woakes 18 and Brydon kars 9 runs. England were all out for 280 runs.
With the ball, New Zealand’s Nathan Smith took 4 wickets with 86 runs in 11.4 overs. O’Rourke took 3 wickets for 49 runs in 12 overs. And Matt Henry took 2 wickets for 43 runs in 15 overs.
