Lithuania has officially designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization. This decision was made by the Seimas of Lithuania on October 3, when 60 deputies voted for the resolution, while no one spoke out against or abstained. The document, initiated by a group of parliamentarians, calls on other democratic countries to follow the example of Lithuania.

Channel 9 writes about this.

The text of the resolution notes that the IRGC poses a threat to international security and stability, and its activities are terrorist in nature.

Former Lithuanian Defense Minister Arvydas Anusauskas, one of the authors of the initiative, stressed that the country’s position must be clear, adding that Iran and Russia support these organizations and seek to influence Western states through them.

The resolution also focuses on the military support of Russia from the IRGC during the aggression against Ukraine. Since 2022, Iran has been supplying Russia with drones and ammunition, which are used to attack the infrastructure and civilian population of Ukraine, and since September 2023, supplies of ballistic missiles have been added.

In addition, Lithuanian parliamentarians condemned the taking of third-country citizens as hostages by Iran and Russia, illegal demands on their governments and illegal detentions of ships. The document also mentions terrorist attacks linked to the IRGC, including an attack on a synagogue in Bochum, Germany, in November 2022.

Lithuania expressed concern that Iran is not fulfilling its obligations under its nuclear program, continues to enrich uranium beyond permissible limits and refuses to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Let us recall that the IRGC was previously recognized as a terrorist organization in the United States and Canada.

Earlier, Kursor wrote that after the liquidation of Nasrallah, a high-ranking Iranian IRGC officer mysteriously disappeared.

The commander of Iran’s IRGC Quds Force was supposed to attend the meeting with Nasrallah in the bunker, but canceled the trip at the last minute.
