Russia has begun supplying weapons to the Yemeni Houthis, thereby deepening its participation in the Middle East conflict on the side of terrorists.

According to the Wall Street Journal, a key role in these deliveries is played by the famous arms dealer Victor Bout, who was released from a US prison in December 2022 as part of an exchange for basketball player Brittney Greiner.

Bout, who previously spent 16 years behind bars for illegal supplies of Soviet weapons to Africa, Latin America and the Middle East, returned to Russia after his release and began his political career by joining the Liberal Democratic Party.

According to WSJ, in August 2024, representatives of the Houthis visited Moscow to purchase small arms worth about $10 million. Officially, they explained their visit by purchasing cars and pesticides, even visiting the AvtoVAZ plant in Togliatti. The visit comes amid growing ties between Russia and Iran, which is already supporting the Houthis with drones and missiles.

Although this is mainly about small arms supplies, analysts see this move as a signal of an escalation of Russia’s involvement in the conflict.

Moscow has so far tried to avoid direct interference in the confrontation between Israel and Shiite groups, although it maintains close relations with Iran. However, according to European sources, the Houthis have also shown interest in more serious weapons systems, such as Kornet anti-tank missiles and surface-to-air missiles, which have already been used by Shiite groups such as Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

Earlier, Kursor reported that emblems with Nasrallah appeared on the uniforms of Russian soldiers after his liquidation.

Arafats were also seen on the necks of Russian soldiers.
