Ukrainian hackers carried out an attack on the resources of the “All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company” (VGTRK), which includes such Kremlin channels as “Russia-1”, “Russia-24” and others. On the morning of October 7, Russian Telegram channels reported a failure on the internal servers of VGTRK. As a result of the attack, key programs and systems of the company stopped working, including Dalet, the platform on which the original stories for broadcasts are stored.

The attack also affected the holding’s channels and radio stations, such as Vesti FM, Mayak and Kultura, but the broadcast itself was not interrupted. However, serious problems arose with filling the airwaves, and as a result, archival materials were launched. In addition, failures affected the pass system, which forced company employees to manually fill out paperwork to gain access to the building.

The pro-Ukrainian hacker group Sudo rm-RF claimed responsibility for the attack. The hackers said that this was their “congratulatory” action for the birthday of Russian President Vladimir Putin. They claim that as a result of the attack, all data on the servers was destroyed, including backup copies, and the operation of online broadcasting and internal services of the company was disrupted.

Previously, Kursor reported that on October 7, the Lebanese TV channel Al-Mayadeen, associated with Hezbollah, reported a hacker attack that affected its news website and online platforms. The channel’s technical team is working to eliminate the consequences of the attack in order to restore service. Al-Mayadeen has hundreds of thousands of followers on Telegram, X (formerly Twitter) and other social networks.
