The chairman of the Bulgarian Olympic Taekwondo Federation (BFT) Slavi Binev reported the most successful year in the history of this sport in the country at today’s regular meeting of the Management Board of the headquarters.
Binev highlighted Kimia Alizadeh‘s winning of the European women’s title in Belgrade in May, who went on to earn bronze at the Paris 2024 Games in the debut of a Bulgarian taekwondo player at the Olympics. He did not miss the success of Stanislav Mitkov, who won a silver medal among juniors at the World Taekwondo Championship under 17 years of age in Chuncheon (Republic of Korea), as well as other successes of Bulgarian athletes in international competitions.
The issue of organizing a gala evening in November on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the official registration of the BFT was also discussed.
The organization’s business plan for the next sports competition season was also discussed, with a major emphasis on the country’s hosting of major international championships in 2025. In addition to the traditional “Bulgaria Open” tournament, which takes place on the first weekend of March, Binev announced that it has been agreed that the President’s Cup, a G3 competition, will be held in Sofia for the first time in Bulgaria from May 16 to 18. He also reported that there is a high probability that another major championship will be organized in the country for the first time, but details will be given further.
