Archbishop Fortunatus Nwachukwu has said that traditional resources and technological research should be used to foster dialogue and improve culture, as the pontiff insists, instead of being allocated to developing deadly weapons.

Archbishop Portunatus Navsuk, Permanent Visitor of the Holy See for the Organization, said this while speaking at the 20th International and United Nations Conference held in Geneva on Friday, November 25.

Pointing out that demining, destroying their stockpiles, and helping victims are not only legal obligations, Archbishop Nowzuk also emphasized that they are moral imperatives that must be firmly before our consciences, an insistence that we must not forget them.

Archbishop Nowsuk emphasized that we must respect the humanity of the many people directly and indirectly affected by landmines, and that we should not go into a world where the throwaway culture and neglect of the planet are what the Pope warns.

Pointing out that the Holy See continues to urge the cessation of the production and use of landmines, Archbishop Navsuk expressed his gratitude to other countries and many voluntary organizations that continue to contribute to the aid of the victims, including the organizations of the Catholic Church around the world.

The unity of the families, and affirmative expression, is the basis for continuing to make financial and human resources available to them, and in cooperation and solidarity, many volunteers and peacemakers must continue to contribute.

Archbishop Nowsuk also stressed that the most important area to be addressed is the spiritual support and protection of the victims and their families.
