Twenty-two of those injured in the attack on a concert hall in Russia that killed more than 130 people are still hospitalized and in serious condition, including two children, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said today, as quoted by Associated Press, BTA reported.

Russia is still reeling from Friday’s attack, in which gunmen killed 139 people at a concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow. Russian President Vladimir Putin said yesterday that the attackers were “radical Islamists”, but despite all the evidence pointing to the involvement of the Islamic State group, Putin repeated his accusation that Ukraine may also have been involved. Kiev categorically denies having any connection with the attack.

Friday’s attack at the Crocus City Hall concert hall on the western outskirts of Moscow was one of Russia’s deadliest in years. More than 130 people were killed and more than 180 wounded.

Two days after the Afghan branch of Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, Putin admitted during a government meeting that the killings were carried out by extremists “whose ideology the Islamic world has been fighting for centuries.”

The Russian president, who said at the weekend that the four attackers had been arrested while trying to flee to Ukraine, said however that investigators had not established who ordered the attack and said it was necessary to find out “why the terrorists, after committing their crime, tried to escape to Ukraine and who was waiting for them there”.
