Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has announced a 28 per cent hike in prices for sellers and builders working in fair price shops.
In a statement issued today, the Government of Tamil Nadu said, “From 22.02.2021, the sellers and builders working in the fair price shops under the control of the Co-operative Sector were allowed to get their pay revised to 14% of the gross price.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has kindly considered the request of the Fair Price Shop Employees’ Union to give a 14% increase in the internal rate of return to government employees from 1.01.2022 and to get 28% inward rate to the vendors and builders working in the fair price shops from 1.01.2022 and to increase the rate of return to the civil servants from time to time. The hike will benefit a total of 22,510 employees, including 19,658 vendors and 2,852 builders working in fair price shops controlled by the co-operative sector. This will result in an additional expenditure of Rs. 73 crore per annum. ”
Earlier, the Tamil Nadu government had offered a 14 per cent hike in internal rates from January this year, as it had given to employees and teachers. Create a separate department for ration shops.
