Three more players in the Sri Lankan cricket team have been ruled out of the second Test against Australia as they have tested positive for Covid-19.

Sri Lanka’s Test team has been jolted as three more players have tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of the second Test against Australia.

Key batsman Dhananjaya de Silva, fast bowler Asitha Fernando and off-spinner Geoffrey Vandersey, who played in the first Test, were confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus today.

This eliminated them from the finals of the series. In this case, the number of Sri Lankan players infected with corona virus has increased to five in the last week.

The remaining players and support staff of the Test squad were also subjected to another rapid antigen test after the three players tested positive in the rapid antigen test conducted today.

Test results for all of them were negative. Meanwhile, Dhananjaya, Wandersay and Fernando have been shifted to another hotel and quarantined. Praveen Jayawickrama was also transferred to the same hotel.

Meanwhile, Lakshan Sandakan was included in the squad.

Good news for the Aussies as former captain Angelo Mathews will feature in the second Test. Mathews suffered an infection during the first Test last week and was ruled out.
