Despite his prison sentence, “4 Blocks” star Kida Khodr Ramadan premiered his new film “Haltlos” in Berlin. The director came with leading actress Lilith Stangenberg (“Die”) to the Berlin premiere of the drama in the cinema at the Hackesche Höfe in Mitte.
“Haltlos” tells the story of a pregnant woman who decides to give her baby up for adoption after birth. The decision brought with it a “vortex of mixed emotions,” the announcement said. The film will be released in theaters on Thursday.
Ramadan has already promoted his film in North Rhine-Westphalia and Hamburg in recent days. This is made possible by a long-term exit which, according to the Judicial Administration of the Berlin Senate, he was granted. The 48-year-old has been in prison in Berlin since the beginning of August.
Ten months in prison for driving without a license on multiple occasions
He is serving a prison sentence in the so-called open prison system. This allows inmates to go to work from there and return to prison in the evening. If they violate the agreements, they risk having those relaxations reversed.
Ramadan is currently serving a ten-month prison sentence, to which he was sentenced in 2022 for driving without a license on multiple occasions. In February 2024, the actor and director was again sentenced to ten months in prison after being caught driving without a license again, despite his previous conviction.
Ramadan told the “Berliner Morgenpost”: “I am very grateful for this relief from detention.” He hopes to be forgiven. “I also want to be a role model for kids and fans out there so they don’t make the same mistakes.
