Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that there will be special security arrangements throughout the country till the tenth day of Durga Puja i.e. next Sunday (October 13).
He said these things during a short discussion meeting organized by the Metropolitan Public Worship Committee while visiting the Dhakeshwari National Temple Pooja Mandap in the capital on Thursday (October 10) in his speech as the chief guest.
The Home Affairs Adviser said, 175 million people of Bangladesh will be safe 365 days. It is our responsibility to provide 365 days security to all the citizens of Bangladesh and we are relentlessly engaged in that effort.
Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that our interim government has allocated the maximum four crore rupees for the puja. Earlier, two to three crore rupees were allocated for Durga Puja every year.
The Home Affairs Adviser said that during the ongoing Durga Puja, no untoward incident has taken place anywhere in the country. Bangladesh Puja Celebration Council Secretary General Santosh Sharma and other leaders have agreed with me on this.
The advisor also said that BGB has been deployed along the border along with sufficient members of Police, RAB and Ansar to conduct Durga Puja smoothly and peacefully. In addition, the required number of armed forces have been deployed with magisterial powers.
Santosh Sharma, General Secretary of Bangladesh Puja Celebration Parishad and Jayant Kumar Deb, President of Metropolitan Public Puja Committee spoke on the occasion.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md. Mainul Hasan, President of Bangladesh Puja Udjakar Parishad, Vasudev Dhar and General Secretary of Mahanagar Sarvajanin Puja Committee Dr. Tapas Chandra Pal etc.
The adviser later visited the Khambarari Krishibid Pujamandap organized by the Sanatan Samaj Kalyan Sangh at Farmgate in the capital.
