Today marks 4 years since the liberation of the city of Fuzuli from the Armenian occupation.
The battles for the city of Fuzuli, which began on September 27, 2020 and lasted until October 17, 2020, occurred during the most difficult period of the 44-day Patriotic War.
The enemy, forced to leave the territory, suffered significant losses in manpower and equipment. As a result of military operations, the commander of the engineering regiment of the Armenian army, Colonel Ashot Ghazaryan, was eliminated.
The breakthrough of several defense lines in the Fizuli direction created ample opportunities for the advancement of the Azerbaijani army along the southern front. Before the final phase of the battle for the city on October 16, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces liberated the villages of Agbulag, Akhullu and Khyrmanjig in the Khojavend region from occupation. Before the liberation of the city, it was already surrounded by the Azerbaijani army from several directions.
On the night of October 16-17, a fierce battle for the city of Fizuli began. As a result of continuous battles, the glorious Azerbaijani army completely liberated the Fizuli villages of Gochakhmedli, Chiman, Musabeyli, Pirahmedli, Dedeli, Ishigly, Juvarli and the city of Fizuli from occupation.
Let us note that in just 44 days, thanks to the heroism of the Azerbaijani army under the leadership of the President, the victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev and the unity of our people, territories that had been under occupation for 30 years, including the city of Fuzuli, were liberated from the enemy, and the territorial integrity of our country was restored. In particular, the liberation of the city of Shusha on November 8 became a special moment during the war. The Shusha operation went down in history as one of the most striking examples of combat training, strategic and tactical mastery of the Azerbaijani army.
6 days after the Victory – November 16, 2020 – President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited the Fizuli region liberated from occupation. The head of state hoisted the glorious Flag of Azerbaijan in the city of Fuzuli.
After the 44-day Patriotic War, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, offered peace to Armenia in the name of establishing sustainable peace in the region. However, Armenia rejected the hand of peace extended by Azerbaijan and continued to commit provocations and terrorist acts in our territories. In response, Azerbaijan carried out local anti-terrorism measures. In less than 24 hours, the Armenian separatists were forced to surrender. Units of the armed forces of Armenia, illegal Armenian armed formations laid down their arms, left combat positions, and were completely disarmed. The junta regime in Karabakh was liquidated, the leaders of the separatists were arrested. Azerbaijan has fully restored its sovereignty throughout its entire territory.
