40,000 Brahmin youths suffer due to unavailability of brides in Tamil Nadu

According to the Brahmin Sangh leader, an organization has been set up in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh to search for Brahmin women.

Chennai:

Many may have heard that the girl we are looking for is not yet available. Narayanan, the leader of the Brahmin community, has openly stated that 40,000 youths in the Brahmin community in Tamil Nadu alone are suffering from lack of women.

Subsequently, an organization was set up in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh to search for Brahmin women. As long as he can read and speak Hindi, he will be appointed as the coordinator.

He noted that more than 40,000 Tamil Brahmin youths between the ages of 30 and 40 could not get married as they could not find brides.

While there are 10 Brahmin boys of marriageable age, there are only six girls of marriageable age in Tamil Nadu.

So they are in touch with the people in Lucknow and Patna. Although this action may come across among the Brahmins, there are other opinions.

Although there are not enough Tamil Brahmin women of marriageable age, this is not the only reason why men do not get brides.

Parents of the bride and groom also look forward to the luxury show at weddings. What prevents them from keeping their marriage simple? Why not do it at the temple or at home ?.

Even today, Tamil Brahmin marriages are extended by two to three days. This includes receptions and other pre- and post-wedding ceremonies.

The total cost these days including jewelery, wedding hall rental, food and gift items is at least Rs. He said it would cost between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 15 lakh.

Undoubtedly this is the biggest economic burden for the bride’s family. Some will spend their lifetime savings. Others will be stuck in debt for the rest of their lives.

Here we are not talking about those who can afford it. The problem is, such rich people set a standard. The community wants those who can’t afford it to follow suit.

The worst affected are the middle class, the lower middle class and the poor Brahmins. I personally know that poor Brahmin families have been fighting for years for the marriage of their daughters.

He said if well functioning people are willing to give up their ego they can find brides in Tamil Nadu.

Marriages between the southern and northern sections of the Iyengar community did not take place a few years ago. That too is happening today. Some said the move by the association was welcome.
