25 thousand metric tons of rock phosphate for Chittagong TSPCL and 30 thousand metric tons of phosphoric acid for DAPFCL will be imported. Besides, the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement has approved three proposals including construction of housing colony and other facilities of Ghorashal Palash Wiria Fertilizer Project. The total cost will be 410 crore 12 lakh 86 thousand 214 taka.
Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division said that the proposals were approved in the committee meeting held under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali on Wednesday (March 20).
He said that the committee has approved the import of 25 thousand metric tons of rock phosphate (BPL minimum) for TSP Complex Limited (TSPCL) of Chittagong. Rock phosphate, the main raw material for TSP fertilizer production, is imported from abroad. In the fiscal year 2023-2024 for the import of 25 thousand metric tons of rock phosphate, when tenders were invited through international open system, 2 tenders were submitted which were responsive. M/s Desh Trading Corporation, Dhaka (Principal Supplier: M/s Jane Trade FZE, UAE) will supply this Rock Phosphate to the Responsive Lowest Bidder recommended by TEC after all the tender process. The price of rock phosphate per metric ton is 342.89 US dollars, the import of 25 thousand metric tons of rock phosphate will cost 85 lakh 72 thousand 250 US dollars equivalent to 94 crore 50 lakh 90 thousand 562 taka in Bangladeshi currency.
In the meeting, the proposal to import 30 thousand metric tons of phosphoric acid for DAPFCL of Chittagong was approved. Phosphoric acid, the main raw material for fertilizer production at DAP Fertilizer Company Limited, is imported from abroad. In the fiscal year 2023-2024, 3 tenders were submitted when the international open tender system was called for the import of 30 thousand metric tons of phosphoric acid in 3 lots. 2 of them are technically responsive. 10 thousand metric tons in 1st lot and 20 thousand metric tons in 2nd and 3rd lot from M/s Desh from M/s Agro Industrial Input, Dhaka (Main supplier: M/s Sun International, FZE, UAE) recommended by TEC as responsive lowest bidder. Trading Corporation, Dhaka (Main suppliers: Zentrade, FZE, UAE) will supply. The total cost will be 190 crore 41 lakh taka. The price of phosphoric acid per metric ton is USD 577.
The Additional Secretary said that the purchase proposal for the completion of the project ‘Ghorashal Palash Urea Fertilizer (1st Revised)’ has been approved. When tenders were invited for the purchase of construction works of the project housing colony and other facilities, bids were received from 4 organizations. 2 of them are technically responsive. Tama Construction Company Limited, the responsive lowest bidder recommended by TEC, will implement the project after all the tender process. It will cost 125 crore 19 lakh 95 thousand 652 taka.
