jpnn.comJAKARTA – The number of ministries in the government of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka will reportedly increase to 46, more than the 33 ministries in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet.

One of the new proposals is the formation of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. However, five Hajj and Umrah associations submitted a request that President-elect Prabowo Subianto conduct a more in-depth study regarding this proposal.

The Joint Berkah Consortium (KBB), which consists of five associations, namely Asphurindo, Asphirasi, Ampuh, Bersathu, and Kesthuri, expressed their views.

KBB Treasurer, Muhammad Tauhid Hamdi, stated that although the selection of ministers is the prerogative of the elected president, it would be better to carry out an in-depth study before forming the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

“We assess that the formation of this ministry will take a long time, considering that all laws and regulations related to Hajj and Umrah must be changed,” said Muhammad Tauhid Hamdi, in Jakarta, Saturday (12/10).

He added that the Hajj preparation process by the Saudi Arabian government was already underway, so this structural change could disrupt preparations for the 2025 Hajj.

As an alternative, Tauhid Hamdi suggested the formation of a National Agency that is independent and equal to the ministry, however, still involves the Ministry of Religion in the transition period.

“This will ensure the smooth implementation of the 2025 Hajj season,” he explained.
