Greece’s ANA-MPA agency reported that the Pylos Port Administration received information about a ship with foreigners on board involved in an accident 32.6 knots southwest of Skhiza island.
The Joint Coordination Center of the Greek Coast Guard carried out an operation to rescue those on board the ship, transferring information about them to an oil tanker located in the same area, which received the 78 migrants on board, who were 39 men, 10 women, and 29 children.
The migrants were then transferred to the port of Pylos, where the authorities are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
It is worth mentioning that more than 42,000 migrants from the Middle East, Asia and Africa came to Turkey and Greece this year, according to data from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
