By the end of February, China’s largest wireless carriers – China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom and China Broadnet – reported a total of 1.746 billion mobile phone users. 851 million people are using the 5G network, according to data released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Radio China reports.
China’s total mobile internet traffic reached 48.76 billion gigabytes in the past 12 months, a year-on-year increase of 16.6%.
The communications industry has been stable in the first two months of this year, and the overall volume of telecommunications business has maintained double-digit growth.
China’s three major telecommunications companies posted a combined business revenue of 292.3 billion yuan (about $40.5 billion) in January and February, an increase of 4.3 percent. The revenue of emerging businesses such as cloud computing and big data reached 75.76 billion yuan, accounting for 25.9% of total revenue and an increase of 11.3% year-on-year.
