Today, Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan received Dr. Hans Henry P., Director of the European Regional Office of the World Health Organization, who is on a two-day visit to Armenia. to Kluge.
Welcoming the guest, Anahit Avanesyan expressed his belief that his visit to Armenia will be a new stimulus for the long-term partnership between the country’s healthcare system and the World Health Organization.
Hans Kluge, for his part, noted that the purpose of the visit is to raise the cooperation between the WTO and Armenia to a new strategic level.
Anahit Avanesyan and the Director of the WHO European Regional Office discussed the international and Armenian experience of overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hans Kluge evaluated the steps taken by Armenia to overcome the pandemic as effective. on the one hand, steps were taken to save people’s lives, on the other hand, to keep the economy open.
The fundamental reforms launched in the health sector were discussed: introduction of universal coverage of health services, reforms of the primary health care link, improvement of the quality of health services, fight against tobacco, preparedness to respond to emergency situations, maintenance of mental health.
During the meeting, the minister also referred to the tragic and devastating consequences of the 44-day war, the issues of displaced persons and prisoners, for which Hans Kluge expressed his condolences.
A number of high-level meetings are also planned within the framework of the two-day visit of the WTO regional head.
