As of the end of July 2023, the national debt of Armenia amounted to about 11 billion 352 million dollars. According to the data of the Ministry of Finance, compared to the beginning of the year, the debt increased by 714 million dollars or 6.7%, “Hetk” wrote.

The internal public debt is growing faster than the external debt.

As of the end of July, the external public debt of Armenia amounted to 6 billion 663 million dollars, which increased by 218 million dollars or 3.4% during the seven months of this year.

The main part of foreign debt is loans received from international organizations and foreign countries.

Armenia continues to attract new loans to implement socio-economic programs. In April of this year, a new loan agreement was signed between the Government of Armenia and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) under the name “Green, Resilient and Inclusive Development Policy Loan”. The total amount of the loan was 92 million euros.

At the same time, the domestic debt is growing at a higher rate. In the seven months of this year, the domestic debt increased by 496 million dollars, by 11.8%, and amounted to 4 billion 688 million dollars.

The total debt has crossed the threshold of 11 billion dollars since May.
