At a meeting of foreign ministers of Arab and European countries in Riyadh, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized his readiness for negotiations with the Russian Federation to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. However, as the American diplomat noted, the end of the war now depends on the will and decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Blinken emphasized that the United States managed to rally countries around the world to help Ukraine, understanding that Russian aggression is directed against not only this state, but also the fundamental principles of the world order.
The Secretary of State expressed his belief that Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin’s plans for Ukraine to join Russia have failed, and that there is an alternative plan that will help Ukraine become a successful country in all aspects – military, economic and democratic.
He also noted that the war in Ukraine became a “strategic defeat” for the Russian Federation, which lost its economic, military and diplomatic strength. Blinken said he hoped Putin would acknowledge the failure.
