The Russian Defense Ministry announced today that Russian air defense systems destroyed 16 missiles and 31 drones that Ukraine fired at Russia overnight.
Twelve of the missiles were shot down over the Belgorod Region, BTA reports.
Five houses were damaged in the Belgorod region, but according to preliminary information, no one was injured, the governor of the region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, wrote on his channel in the communication application “Telegram”.
Yesterday, 15 people died in the city of Belgorod in the partial collapse of a residential building. The Russian Defense Ministry said the partial collapse was the result of a Ukrainian missile strike on the building, Reuters notes. Today, the Russian ministry announced that the 12 guided missiles were launched by a Ukrainian Vilha salvo launch system. Four long-range Storm Shadow cruise missiles and seven drones were shot down over the Crimean peninsula, eight unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed over the Kursk region, and four were intercepted over the Lipetsk region, the ministry said.
A drone caused a short-term fire in an electrical substation in the Kursk region, the governor of the Lipetsk region, Igor Artamonov, wrote in “Telegram”.
“There are no casualties. The fire on the territory of the electrical substation has been extinguished,” he said. Reuters cannot independently confirm the information.
Ukraine has not commented on the information regarding the strikes on the territory of Russia. Kiev says the strikes on Russia’s military, transport and energy infrastructure undermine Moscow’s military efforts and are a response to countless deadly attacks by Russia, Reuters noted.
