BNP⁣ Leader Salahuddin Ahmed⁢ Returning to ‌Bangladesh After 9 Years

BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed is returning home to Bangladesh after spending nine years in India. He ​is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka from ‍Delhi on⁤ Sunday (August 11) afternoon.

BNP media cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan confirmed ‌on Saturday (August 10) that Salahuddin ⁣Ahmed will travel from Delhi to Dhaka on‍ Sunday.

Earlier this month, Salahuddin Ahmed ⁣obtained a travel pass to return to his home country.‍ This comes⁢ after he was acquitted in an illegal entry case in India in 2018. However, his return was delayed due to a lack of a valid passport.

Salahuddin Ahmed⁢ was ​previously a close aide to ⁤former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia‍ and ‌was elected to Parliament in 2001.⁤ He held various government positions during the BNP-Jamaat coalition government. He⁣ was arrested in Meghalaya in 2014 while serving as‍ the joint general secretary⁤ of‍ the BNP.

The BNP party elevated him to the Standing Committee while he was ‍still in ‍detention in India.
