International transport companies are showing interest in developing their activities in Azerbaijan.

The head of the Association of Freight Forwarding Companies of Azerbaijan, director of LLC “Hellmann Worldwide LogisticsKamran Gabibov at the Azerbaijan Trade Forum dedicated to the topic “Opportunities, current situation and challenges for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs),” Day.Az reports with reference to Trend.

Gabibov emphasized the importance of further development of the country’s logistics sector.

“Today we are seeing a constant increase in transit volumes through Azerbaijan. But, in my opinion, now is the time for the next step. We must turn Azerbaijan into a regional trade center. This implies creating conditions for attracting global manufacturers who will be interested in organizing regional warehouses here and distribution centers. From here, goods will be able to be distributed not only to the countries of the South Caucasus, but also to the states of Central Asia. In general, international transport companies are interested in conducting their activities in Azerbaijan,” he noted.

According to him, such measures will stimulate the development of all sectors of the economy, including trade and logistics.

Gabibov also pointed out the need to develop special investment programs in this area that would help attract investment in logistics. As an example, he cited already existing production support programs implemented by the Ministry of Economy.

“It is also necessary to create investment incentives for logistics market participants, such as owners of vehicles and warehouse complexes. This is especially important for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which face difficulties in implementing expensive digital solutions. We must consider developing large-scale programs for their support and stimulation,” added the head of the Association.
