Superman He debuted in the comic in 1938. He was born on a fictional planet and sent to Earth as a child. He was adopted by a farming couple. The rest is a long story that attracted the race quickly.
Actor Christopher Reeve was chosen for the role of Superman. He was an athlete, an excellent swimmer, 1.93 in height, whose features were close to a comic book hero. He landed the role of Clark Kent in 1978 with an advertising campaign that said “you’ll believe a man can fly.” The success of the film led to three series with the same performer in 1980, 1983 and 1987. His big “S” on his chest and his red cape became the main symbols of the character.
The film that will be seen by Monfic24 is a documentary with images of his relatives, his three children, where the story of Superman is told from the most human and also perspectives.
On May 27, 1995, eight years after his last Superman, the actor suffered an accident in a horse competition, which resulted in paralysis from the shoulders. In the sanatorium he declared “I have ruined my life and the lives of everyone around me.” The accident forced Reeve to learn how to speak, breathe, and compose life’s prostrations in a chair. “You are still and I love you,” his wife told him. And so, with family strength and support, he appeared in a wheelchair at the Oscar ceremony in 1996, where he was given a well-deserved tribute. He was a model man and father, his family said.
A huge story, in a feature film, about a man who wanted to live. The film reviews his triumphs and shadows, shows his family life, until his death in 2004 at the age of 52. The documentary is part of the “Monfic24” grid and is shown in the Movie Montevideo shopping room.
