The main contents of the agreement include support for the composition and operation of tourism products linked to railways, joint promotion and marketing, and support for cooperation to revitalize the local economy and create demand for railway tourism.
Through this agreement, the county expects that the opening of the railroad, which has been a long-awaited project of residents, will help revitalize the local economy and develop tourism, and plans to launch Uljin rail travel products through mutual cooperation after the agreement.
Uljin County Mayor Son Byeong-bok said, “We expect to contribute to enhancing the status of Uljin as a tourist city and revitalizing the local economy by promoting Uljin’s excellent tourism resources to the outside world in connection with railway tourism products.” He added, “We are planning to launch various products and programs in the Uljin railway era.” “As we are planning this, we hope that many people will visit clean Uljin,” he said.

Meanwhile, Uljin-gun temporarily opened the Geumgangsong Smart Complex Rest Area on National Route 36 in Ssangjeon-ri, Geumgangsong-myeon on the 11th.
Geumgangsong Smart Complex Rest Area was selected as a public offering project by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in March 2021 and was completed at the end of September with a total project cost of 3.3 billion won (2 billion for the government and 1.3 billion for the county). In collaboration with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, a space for resting on the road and selling local specialties was created with a total area of 4,934㎡ and one floor above ground.
The shelter is operated by the Ssangjeon 1-ri Social Cooperative (CEO Kang Seong-deok), taking advantage of the characteristics of the region. It currently operates a local specialty product store, restrooms, an outdoor shelter, and a food truck (snacks), and an electric vehicle charging station will be available from November. there is.
We hope that it will become a resting place where tourists visiting Uljin can take a short break, and we plan to operate a cafe and restaurant together in January 2025.
When the shelter begins full-scale operation starting next year, it is expected to establish itself as a new tourist attraction in connection with the nearby Geumgang Pine Ecorium and Geumgang Pine Forest Trail along with the revitalization of National Route 36.
