(M Waqar) Today is the ninth anniversary of Jameeluddin Ali, a well-known intellectual, poet, writer, critic and the creator of Shahra Afaq Milli songs.
Born on January 20, 1925 in a scholarly family of Delhi, Jamiluddin Ali proved his skills as a poet, writer, researcher and columnist at the same time. His grandfather was among the students of Mirza Ghalib. His father was a poet while his mother belonged to the famous Urdu poet Mir Dard’s family.
Jameeluddin Ali was also the head of the Urdu Dictionary Board for many years, he was associated with Anjuman Taqrigh Urdu for fifty-five years, he also wrote books like O Mere Dasht Sakhn, Jeeve Jeeve Pakistan, La Haseel and Nai Karan, in addition to literary books, Duniya Mere Aad. He also wrote travelogues such as Tamasha Mere Aadhe, Island and Harfe.
During the Indo-Pak war of 1965, he also wrote many national songs, including, “Oh, the handsome young men of the country, you have given such a great life to Pakistan” for the Islamic Summit Conference. Also wrote.
Jameeluddin Ali was awarded Pride of Performance in 1991 and Tagha Imtiaz in 2004 in recognition of his long services to Urdu literature. He passed away on November 23, 2015 after a long illness.
