NFL Playoffs 2025: Road to Super Bowl 60 Begins
The intensity is building as 14 teams enter the NFL playoffs, vying for a coveted spot in Super Bowl 60. Seven teams from the American Football conference (AFC) and seven from the National Football Conference (NFC) will battle through a grueling three-week, 12-game knockout tournament to determine their respective conference champions.
The playoff structure is designed to reward regular season success while providing opportunities for underdog stories. Teams are seeded from one to seven based on their performance during the 17-game regular season. The top seeds in each conference receive a crucial advantage: an automatic berth into the Divisional round, the second week of the postseason.
This season, the Denver Broncos secured the AFC’s top seed, demonstrating their dominance throughout the regular season. similarly, the Seattle Seahawks topped the NFC, positioning themselves as strong contenders for the championship.
However, the journey doesn’t end with the top seeds. The remaining 12 teams will kick off the postseason action during Wildcard Weekend. A key element of the playoff format is home-field advantage, awarded to the highest remaining seeds in each round.
The matchups for the wildcard Round are predetermined: the second-ranked team in each conference will face the seventh seed, the third will play the sixth, and the fourth will battle the fifth. The six winners of these contests will then advance to the Divisional Round.
In the Divisional Round, the top seed will face the lowest-ranked remaining team, while the other two advancing teams will compete against each other. The four victorious teams will then progress to the Conference Championships – essentially the Super Bowl semi-finals – with the ultimate goal of reaching Super Bowl 60 and claiming the NFL title.
