TOKYO, January 16, 2026 — Get ready to feel the bass drop in space: SZA’s hit song “Snooze,” from her 2022 album SOS, will open the highly anticipated film MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM HATHAWAY The Sorcery of Nymph Circe. A new trailer featuring the track has just dropped on the official Gundam YouTube channel, giving fans a taste of the sonic and visual experience to come.
A New Theme for a New Generation of Gundam
MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM HATHAWAY The Sorcery of Nymph Circe is slated for release in Japan on January 30, 2026, with U.S. theatrical screenings to follow. The film continues the story begun in the first MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM HATHAWAY installment, which premiered in Japan in 2021 to significant box office success.
What makes SZA’s involvement so noteworthy? The New Jersey-born singer-songwriter’s music has resonated globally, with SOS spending 13 weeks at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Albums Chart—the longest run in R&B/Hip-Hop chart history—and surpassing 8 million units in sales in the U.S.
SZA’s rise to prominence began with her debut album, Ctrl, in 2017. She’s since become known for her distinctive voice and deeply introspective lyrics. Her talent has also been recognized on the big screen, having co-performed “All the Stars” with Kendrick Lamar for Marvel’s Black Panther (2018), earning nominations for both a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for Best Original Song. She’s collaborated with a who’s who of music, including Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Drake, Doja Cat, The Weeknd, and Maroon 5.
The upcoming film centers on Hathaway Noa, son of Bright Noa, as he leads a resistance movement against the Federation government in the year U.C.0105, twelve years after Char’s Rebellion. The story follows MAFTY’s attempts to disrupt the Federation by assassinating high-ranking officials. Hathaway’s past is stirred by a mysterious girl named Gigi Andalusia, who possesses uncanny powers, as he prepares for a daring air raid on the Adelaide conference.
Directed by franchise veteran Shukou Murase, with a screenplay by Yasuyuki Muto, MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM HATHAWAY The Sorcery of Nymph Circe boasts character designs by Pablo Uchida, Naoyuki Onda, and Shigeki Kuhara. The creative team also includes mech designers Hajime Katoki, Kimitoshi Yamane, Seiichi Nakatani, and Nobuhiko Genma; art director Kinichi Ohkubo; color designers Takako Suzuki and Yuichi Kuboki; CG director Ryukow Masuo; VFX director Manabu Kadouno; and composer Hiroyuki Sawano.
The film features the voice talents of Kensho Ono as Hathaway, Queen Ueda as Gigi, Judgy as Kenneth Sleg, and Soma Saito as Lane Aim.
