SANTO DOMINGO,March 8,2024 – The Dominican Republic’s most prestigious entertainment honors,the Soberano Awards,are set for March 18th,recognizing excellence across film,television,and music. The annual ceremony will be broadcast nationally on Color Visión and internationally via Univisión, bringing Dominican talent to a wider audience.
Dominican Stars Vie for Soberano Awards
The 2024 Soberano Awards celebrate a diverse and thriving Dominican entertainment scene.
- Elvis Nolasco, Dascha Polanco, Judy Reyes, and Juani feliz are nominated in the Outstanding Actor/actress Abroad category.
- Four films-A Shot Clean, Sugar Island, Bachata by Biónico, and Baño de Mujeres-will compete for Best Drama.
- The awards, organized by Acroarte, highlight the growth and international recognition of Dominican cinema.
In the Outstanding Actor/Actress Abroad category,the nominees reflect the growing presence of dominican performers on international screens. Elvis Nolasco earned a nomination for his role in Godfather of Harlem, while Dascha Polanco is recognized for her work in The Walking Dead: Dead City. Judy Reyes’ performance in High Potential and Juani Feliz’s contribution to 911: Nashville also garnered nominations.
the film categories showcase a vibrant range of storytelling. A Shot Clean, Sugar Island, Bachata by Biónico, and Baño de Mujeres are vying for the title of best Drama, while Medias Hermanas and Sanky Panky 4: De Safari are in contention for Best Comedy.

Yelidá Díaz (Sugar Island), Judith Rodríguez (Baño de mujeres), Evelyna Rodríguez (Cucú), and Nashla Bogaert (Medias Hermanas) are nominated for Film Actress, while Frank Perozo (Baño de mujeres), Manuel Raposo (Bachata de biónico), Félix germán (A Shot Clean), Gerardo Mercedes (The Day of the Storm), and Manny Pérez (Tíguere) are competing for Film Actor.
