Table tennis team TSV Bierden demonstrated their strength, defeating bottom-of-the-table TV Bremen-Walle 1875 with a decisive 9-3 score.

The team’s captain, Marco Gluza, acknowledged the challenge ahead, stating, “Even if we win against Vahr, it’s actually not possible. The draw in Findorff might have ruined that for us.” Despite this, the Bierden team performed admirably, even with the absence of Julius Feldt and Philipp Schwarz, while Walle was also missing two players.
A strong performance in the doubles proved pivotal, with Bierden taking a 2-1 lead. While Martens/Nullmeier faced defeat, Gluza/Uhlig and Vogel/Sonneborn emerged victorious. The top pairing of Gluza and Vincent Vogel dominated, achieving a perfect 4-0 record throughout the rounds.

The middle order presented some challenges, as Christopher Uhlig struggled against Vincent Bruns, ultimately losing in five sets (2:11). However, Tom Sonneborn quickly compensated, initially overpowering Simon Hufnagel. He then demonstrated remarkable composure, battling back from a 1-2 deficit against Bruns to secure a hard-fought five-set win. “Tom kept calm and never gave up,” his captain praised.
Yorick Martens also contributed to the win, defeating Shawn Rosemann 3-1, a reversal of their previous encounter. This marked Martens’ second victory of the season.
Gluza concluded, expressing relief that the match proceeded as planned: “There was a lot of back and forth about the relocation. We are all happy that the game has now gone ahead.”
