Singer Reimagines the Porsche 911 Cabriolet with Cutting-Edge Engineering and Classic Style
The renowned Porsche restoration specialists at Singer Vehicle Design are extending their expertise to the 964-series 911 Cabriolet, promising a thrilling blend of performance, luxury, and open-air driving. The reimagined convertible boasts a suite of upgrades, including a newly developed electric folding roof, and represents the latest evolution in Singer’s commitment to elevating the iconic Porsche experience.
A Collaboration with Red Bull Advanced Technologies
Singer first hinted at the 911 Carrera Cabriolet Reimagined earlier this month, coinciding with the announcement of a strategic partnership with Red Bull Advanced Technologies. The collaboration brings the racing team’s high-performance engineering prowess to bear on a traditionally challenging aspect of open-top vehicles: chassis rigidity. According to a company release, Red Bull engineers are employing advanced digital modeling to analyze the torsional stiffness of the donor vehicle’s steel monocoque. This detailed assessment identifies areas requiring reinforcement with custom-made carbon-fiber structures, ultimately resulting in a driving experience comparable to modern 911 Cabriolets.
Power and Precision: A Reborn Engine
This is Singer, after all, and the upgrades extend far beyond structural enhancements. Each bespoke build features a “reborn” 4.0-liter flat-six engine, meticulously engineered with variable valve timing, water-cooled cylinder heads, and air-cooled cylinders. An electrically powered fan further optimizes performance. The engine, benefiting from engineering expertise from Cosworth, delivers a robust 420 horsepower, channeled to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox and capable of reaching an impressive 8,000 rpm. Additional mechanical improvements include a titanium exhaust system, four-way adjustable dampers with electronic damping control, and high-performance carbon-ceramic brakes.
A Turbo-Inspired Aesthetic with Modern Touches
While each reimagined 911 Cabriolet will be tailored to its owner’s specifications, all builds will share a common design language. A wide-body, carbon-fiber kit, inspired by the iconic Turbo-look variants of the 1980s, will define the exterior. The vehicle’s rear has been streamlined with a newly designed, lightweight “Z pattern” electric folding roof. Owners can choose between a prominent fixed wing or a more subtle, speed-activated wing. Completing the package are 18-inch center-lock wheels fitted with the latest Michelin Pilot Sport tires.
Limited Production and Exclusive Ownership
Singer intends to produce just 75 examples of the 911 Carrera Cabriolet Reimagined, ensuring exclusivity for discerning collectors. While the company has not yet disclosed pricing, industry observers anticipate a substantial cost, given that Singer’s previous builds have routinely commanded seven-figure sums at auction.
