Nuremberg is about to acquire a taste of viral trends, literally. A new café, Coffee Voyage, is set to open its doors in the city’s center, promising to translate the latest social media food fads into edible reality. The venture is a collaboration between local influencer Raed, who boasts a significant online following, and the team behind Original Berliner Döner, a well-established kebab restaurant known throughout the region.
Located at Färberstraße 26, Coffee Voyage aims to be more than just a coffee shop. It’s designed as an immersive experience, complete with a pink-hued aesthetic and a whimsical swing adorned with angel wings – all geared towards creating shareable moments for social media. The concept, according to Raed, is simple: “You’re on the couch at night, scrolling through social media and witness a viral snack – and our goal is to have that available the very next day.”
Raed, a prominent figure in Nuremberg’s influencer scene, currently has 1.5 million followers on TikTok and an additional 233,000 on Instagram, according to his profile @raed_offiziell. He envisions Coffee Voyage as a dynamic space where the menu constantly evolves to reflect the ever-changing landscape of online food trends. While a core menu of coffee variations, matcha, cakes, and pastries will be available, a significant portion of the offerings will rotate regularly.
The café’s ambition extends beyond simply replicating popular snacks. It plans to bring a taste of high-end pastry artistry to Nuremberg, specifically the visually stunning “Fruits” created by French pastry chef Cédric Grolet. These hyperrealistic fruit-shaped desserts have gained international acclaim and a devoted online following. To achieve this level of detail, Raed and the Original Berliner Döner team have hired a specialized pastry chef.
“We aim for to have the most viral things available immediately,” Raed told nn.de. The pastry chef’s ability to quickly adapt and recreate trending desserts is central to the café’s strategy. If a particular item gains traction, it will be added to the permanent menu.
This collaboration isn’t solely focused on the café. Just a short distance away, at the same address, Original Berliner Döner is opening a deluxe branch, offering steak grilled over charcoal before being served in their signature döner bread. Hivar Saeeid, the operator of Original Berliner Döner, explained that the initial idea was to expand the seating capacity of the kebab restaurant. Although, he realized that the atmosphere wasn’t conducive to enjoying a relaxing coffee. “But you can’t have a relaxed espresso here,” Saeeid told nn.de. He then brought Raed on board, suggesting, “After a juicy steak döner, you can come here for dessert, right?”
After nearly six months of renovations, the café’s interior is designed to be visually striking. The pink tiles and the swing with angel wings are intended to create a welcoming and aesthetically pleasing environment, encouraging visitors to capture and share their experiences online. Raed emphasized the goal is to create a space where people can relax and sense comfortable. “It should be a place where you can simply unwind and feel good,” he said, aiming to create a “new feel-good oasis.”
The opening of Coffee Voyage, currently slated for April, represents a novel approach to the food service industry, directly responding to the demands of the social media-driven consumer. By prioritizing speed and adaptability, the café hopes to capitalize on the fleeting nature of viral trends and establish itself as a destination for those seeking the latest culinary sensations.
