Parallel to the security negotiations, Brussels moved to solidify its own ties with the autonomous territory. President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen unveiled a €200 million ($232 million) investment package for Greenland on Monday to strengthen ties with the semi-autonomous Danish territory.

project to improve Internet connection in remote areas of Greenland. The package also includes support for critical mineral and graphite extraction initiatives, highlighting the Malmbjerg Molybdenum mining project, which could generate up to €90 million ($104 million) annually for Greenland as added value, according to von der Leyen. The package will also provide additional funding for new hydropower plants.
Parliamentary Hurdles and the Road to Formal Signing
With the framework of related agreements established, attention turns to formal execution. Denmark and Greenland, an autonomous territory controlled by Copenhagen, both hailed the deal and said that they would sign it on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York next week.
