The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center announced that an earthquake measuring 4.5 degrees struck the Strait of Gibraltar area in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Morocco, and confirmed that it had no impact on Morocco.

Data from the Euro-Mediterranean Center showed that a number of tremors of varying intensity are being recorded in the Strait of Gibraltar area, and most of them do not have any significant impact on Morocco in particular.

The Moroccan website “Hespress” quoted the director of the National Institute of Geophysics, Nasser Jabour, denying any possibility of any tsunami occurring near the city of Agadir or recording the occurrence of any tsunami in the region, indicating that the earthquake that was recorded in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean “has no impact on Morocco.”

Jabour said, “The earthquake that struck last night in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean had no impact and was not perceptible. Regarding the tsunami warning issued by some monitoring sites, it was canceled at the time.”
