The Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges (DSE and CSE) ended the first business day of the week on Sunday (October 20) with major declines in indices. However, transactions in DSE and CSE have slightly increased compared to the previous working day. Shares of most companies and units of mutual funds traded on both the stock exchanges fell on the day.
Meanwhile, in the capital market, the main advisor to protest and protect investors’ capital. The investors gave a memorandum at around 11:30 on Sunday (October 20) seeking the intervention of Muhammad Yunus. Bangladesh Janswarth Suraksha Parishad Convenor Md gave the memorandum titled ‘Application for the protection of investors who have suffered in the capital market’ at gate number 4 of the Chief Adviser’s office. According to DSE and CSE sources, at the end of the day, the main index of DSE, DSEX, is 97.24 points lower than the previous day at 5,160 points. The DSE Shariah index fell by 18.56 points to 1,155 points and the DS30 index fell by 34.14 points to 1,896 points.

A total of 400 shares and units of companies were traded on DSE. Among them, the share and unit prices of 27 companies increased, 346 decreased and 27 remained unchanged.
A total of Tk 362 crore 42 lakh shares and units were traded in DSE today. Shares and units worth Tk 306 crore 89 lakh were traded on the previous working day.
On the other hand, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) CSCX index is down 161.91 points at 8,850 points. Overall index CASPI decreased by 271.43 points to 14 thousand 549 points, Sharia index decreased by 16.94 points to 943 points and CSE 30 index decreased by 179.25 points to 11 thousand 926 points.
Shares and units of 230 companies were traded on CSE. Among them, the share and unit prices of 26 companies increased, 181 decreased and 22 remained unchanged.
At the end of the day, shares and units of Tk 6 crore 33 lakh were traded in CSE. Shares and units worth Tk 4 crore 64 lakh were traded on the previous working day.
