Bulgaria received great recognition during the annual general meeting of Tennis Europe in Slovenia.

Bulgarian tennis received a special award from the International Federation (ITF) for the development of children’s and youth tennis in Bulgaria.

ITF President and IOC Member David Haggerty and Tennis Europe Chief Giorgio Di Palermo presented the award to Dr. Georgi Krumov.

The award is given for the great performance of the Bulgarian tennis talents last year.

Bulgaria’s under-18 national team consisting of Iva Ivanova, Rositsa Dencheva and Alexandra Gabrovska triumphed with the title of the European team championship.

Rositsa Dencheva and Elizara Yaneva became European under-16 doubles champions. Dencheva also won a bronze medal in singles at the European under-16.

Iliyan Radulov won the third place at the “Masters” of the best eight tennis players under the age of 18.

Bulgaria currently has four tennis players in the top 34 of the ITF women’s world rankings. Iva Ivanova is #16, Elizara Yaneva is #22, Rositsa Dencheva is #23, and Ioana Konstantinova is #34.

We also have three representatives in the top 100 world rankings for juniors. Alexander Vasilev is #61, Anas Mazdrashki is #70, and Ivan Ivanov is #95.
