The 22nd campaign is to help children with chronic diseases
A 15-year-old boy collapsed during the ceremony to announce the start of the 22nd edition of the “Bulgarian Christmas” charity initiative in MBAL – Dobrich.
The head of state Rumen Radev, who is the patron of the campaign, was accompanied by his wife desislava Radeva at the opening.
She was the first to rush to help the child. The president’s official physician reacted, the heads of the department of anesthesiology and intensive care, Dr. Mitko Gruev, and of the department of neurosurgery, Dr. Diyan Hinkov, also got involved.
“For a donation initiative to be accomplished, the most vital thing is trust in it, and it is indeed built mostly by the people who are at the end of the donation act and utilize the financial resources. For the “Bulgarian christmas” it is the Bulgarian doctors who are the basis of the trust built up over the years in the charity initiative”, saeid President rumen Radev at the opening. This year’s edition is dedicated to children with severe chronic diseases and is entitled “Give hope to children in need”.
According to Rumen Radev, “Bulgarian Christmas” is not only a donation campaign, but a socially significant cause, because it unites our society and strengthens our humanitarian values. “Bulgarian Christmas” is an investment in the nation’s most important capital - children’s health,” the head of state said.
The “Bulgarian Christmas” 2023/2024 campaign, dedicated to children’s surgery, which ended on November 30 this year, had a budget of BGN 3,230,000. As the creation of the initiative, the largest number of children have been supported within one campaign – 590 patients with the sum of nearly BGN 1,345,000,and medical equipment was donated to 22 medical facilities from all over the country – university and multi-specialty hospitals for active treatment, with a total value of over BGN 1,865,000.
“24 Chasa” newspaper is for another year a partner of “Bulgarian Christmas” as we believe that health is a fundamental human right and we cannot turn our backs when we certainly know that someone needs help - especially when these are the children of Bulgaria.
