Microsoft appointed Mustafa Suleiman, of Syrian-British origins, to head the Consumer Artificial Intelligence Department. With this step, the company added an influential figure in the world of artificial intelligence to consolidate its position in this field.

Four months before assuming the position of head of the artificial intelligence department at Microsoft, Mustafa Suleiman told reporters that “a temporary pause in the development of technology may have to be considered,” expressing his concerns about the sector he is entering and the revolution he is witnessing.
By listening to Suleiman’s interviews, reading his statements, and considering his positions, as he is a Briton of Syrian origin, the features of the personality of an ambitious and unruly entrepreneur and “serial technology founder,” according to the description he calls himself, quickly emerge.
He now faces a challenge that he has always addressed over the past years, and when he was gradually ascending the ladder of “artificial intelligence,” he was the first to seek its steps and hastened to keep pace with him.
In a Microsoft statement on Wednesday, the company linked Soliman’s appointment to the second year of the transformation of its artificial intelligence platform, and the resulting ability to innovate, learn, and combine science, engineering, products, and design.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said: “I have known Suleiman for many years, and I have great admiration for him as a founder of companies, a visionary and a maker of distinctive products. He also has a great ability to build work teams that strive to achieve pioneering achievements.”
Suleiman will hold the position of CEO of Microsoft AI, which is the new sector that includes the company’s most prominent products, the most important of which are “Copilot,” “Bing,” and “Edge.”
He will also be a member of the senior management team, reporting directly to Nadella within the administrative structure.
